Description An absolutely glorious original 1950’s strapless party/prom dress in a stunning combination of metallic blue embroidered tulle over dusty rose taffeta. The style typifies the 50’s – oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow boned bodice perfect to accentuate a narrow waist – with a twirling full skirt. What makes this dress extra special are the embroidered floral panels throughout. The icy blue embroidery is accented with metallic silver thread. When this thread catches the light, the dress appears iridescent. What a statement this hot little number would make in the approaching prom season ! Maker’s label reads “Will Steinman Original” – a highly collectible label from a design house specializing in high quality party/prom dresses during the 50’s-60’s. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely nylon blend. Note the special details on this wonderful dress – the strapless (boned) taffeta bodice with icy blue tulle overlay, the fabulous metallic embroidery panels and especially the wonderfully full tulle skirt. There are three layers to the skirt – an underskirt of dusty rose satin acetate, a middle layer of tiered blue tulle to give the skirt extra body, followed by a top layer of blue tulle decorated with metallic embroidery. Note the dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included. However, this skirt is wonderfully full on its own. The dress closes down the side with a hidden metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in dusty rose satin acetate. No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a small to size which would best fit a modern size 2 or 4. No stains and underarms are clean. A few repairs have been made to the tulle skirt. These were done using transparent filament thread and with the volume of fabric and embroidery panels, they are inconspicuous and would never be noticed except on close inspection.
