Fine and rare ruby pate de verre floral bib by Maison Gripoix for Chanel. Each flower on this bib has completely hand forged metalwork which forms the frames into which the molten ruby glass will be poured. This is a process of construction and technique that barely exists today. The quality and fineness of the metal work and glass help to date this piece to the 50s. Hand crafted faux pearls, emerald poured glass spacers and tiny pastes complete the lush moghul effect which has in turn become one of the signatures of Maison Chanel. Rubies, emeralds and pearls of the royal Indian court reinterpreted for the fashionable folds of Paris, London, New York and beyond. Extraordinary quality pieces of this scale, caliber and condition rarely become available. Unsigned. circa 1950s. 12″ with 3.5″ extender Drop: 5.25″
