It’s been snowing on and off for a few days here in New York, which means the sidewalks are salted and my new suede booties are toast. OR ARE THEY!? Thanks to some serious Googling and the January 2012 issue of GQ, I discovered a genius way to remove salt stains from your shoes–oh, and did I mention it costs pennies? Just mix a half cup of white vinegar with a half cup of warm water. Dab the solution on your shoes with a paper towel, brush it out, and let them dry. If your shoes are leather, not suede, add some oil or polish to restore their shine. And that’s all it takes to save your soles. Photo: Net-A-Porter
